District 05 Community!

Serving Ohio, Kentucky, and West Virginia

The word “Zonta” is a Lakota Sioux Indian word meaning “honest and trustworthy”. Zonta was founded in 1919 in Buffalo, New York.  Zonta International (ZI) envisions a world in which women’s rights are recognized as human rights and every woman can achieve her full potential.

What is full potential? In such a world, women have access to all resources, and are represented in decision-making positions on an equal basis with men, where no woman lives in fear of violence. Zonta International has over 25,000 members in more than 1,000 clubs in 60 countries  around the world. See the ZI website for more information: https://www.zonta.org. ZI’s partners include UNFPA, UNICEF USA, Girls Not Brides, Coalition to End Violence Against Women and Girls Globally, and Women’s Empowerment Principles.

Zonta District 05 is comprised of 15 clubs with over 360+ members, in Kentucky, West Virginia & Ohio. 

District 05’s, 2024-26 biennial theme is; Sustainability, Spirit & Speaking Up for Human Rights. We partner with like-minded organizations from YWCAs, to City & State organizations, to execute meaningful community service and support, including funding scholarships. Zonta can help start clubs at the high school (Z Clubs) and college (Golden Z Clubs) levels! Learn more about Zonta International District 05’s Clubs and their programs/events on this site.
